PHASES OF COMPETITION:
During the state pageant each contestant will compete in the following phases of competition. A distinguished panel of judges will score each contestant in the following areas. Each area of competition represents the following percentage of her overall score:
- 30% Personal Interview
- 30% Fitness
- 30% Evening Gown
- 10% On Stage Question

COMPETITION WARDROBE: You are required to furnish your own competition wardrobe
- Evening Gown – There are no specific requirements regarding the gown other than it should be full length, fit you well, and compliment your own coloring and physical features. Cost of gown is not a consideration when being judged.
- Personal Interview – For the judges’ personal interview (panel style), you will need a daytime dress or business suit. Something similar to what you would wear to a job interview. Jewelry should be kept to a minimum.
- Swimsuit (Fitness) – This should be a basic one color, one or two piece swimsuit that compliments your figure and coloring and should not have any cut outs or excessive embellishments. You will need to also provide a sarong or wrap the same solid color as your swimsuit. Flesh colored or clear high heels are recommended. Pantyhose are optional and jewelry should be kept to a minimum.
- Opening Number (not judged) – The Mrs. United States signature "red" cocktail dress is required for the opening number. This will not be a complicated opening number, but more of choreographed walking and posing to showcase you and the other delegates competing in a fun and upbeat fashion.
