Rachel has been married to her best friend and college sweetheart Doug, for the past four and a half years and currently resides in Bristow Virginia. Rachel graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Prelaw and in 2005 received her Masters Certificate in Government Contract Management. She is employed as an Accounting & Contracts Manager for a government subcontractor. 

 

Although Rachel is a native of Virginia, she has lived in South Africa for 10 years, and speaks fluent Afrikaans as well as a little Tswana and Zulu. She did extensive charity work among the tribal people; which included preparing and distributing food, clothing and medicine to villages and hospitals. She raised funds for South African schools and visited the sick at Thusong Hospital as well as the TB & AIDS hospital. 

 

The values instilled in Rachel as a child still govern her life today as a married woman. She continues to be actively involved with her community’s schools, fairs, festivals and assisted living facilities. She participated in The American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life”, ”Freedom Walk”, “Support Your Troops”, SERVE’s-“Operation Turkey”, NBOCC “Run/Walk for Her” and The Children’s Holiday Gift Shop. She also volunteers for numerous events supporting the Alzheimer’s Association, the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, the American Red Cross and the Special Olympics.  

 

Rachel‘s platform is “Alzheimer’s Awareness” and hopes to find a cure for this disease in her lifetime. 

 

Rachel is honored to represent her state as "Mrs. Virginia United States" and truly believes that "to whom much is given, much shall be required." She is looking forward to the many opportunities that lay ahead.
